Ice Storm in Wausau, WI
It’s official- winter is here for good! I feel spoiled with all of the warm weather we’ve had in the last two months- it definitely hasn’t felt like a normal Wisconsin winter yet.
But yesterday’s ice storm, which is now turning into a full-blown snowstorm, is changing that fast.
I’m not a huge fan of the cold, and I know in a few months I’ll be wondering why I still live in a frozen tundra, but I just love the first big snowstorm of the year! It seems like the entire state of Wisconsin has shut down- which is perfect because I certainly wouldn’t want to leave my house is this mess anyway.
I did manage to convince myself to head outside and take a few pictures of the icy landscape, though. I thought I’d only be outside for a few minutes, so I didn’t bundle up very much… And 300 photos later, I was completely soaked! I should know that I never take just a “few” pictures.
Enjoy the photographs of the flora in our yard, draped in a fine layer of ice! From the crabapples waiting for the birds’ next meal, to the remnants of the flowers from a warmer season, I was fascinated by the ice that surrounded every leaf and branch, turning everything into pretty icicles. A few of these will be entered into my Landscape Gallery, and some onto products for my Society6 and Redbubble shops. Send me a message or comment below if there’s one you want to see available!
